    Week 9 Update- 3/29

    Hello Swimming and Diving Families-

We are heading in to the home stretch!  There's still a lot going on so read the update carefully and ask a coach if you have questions!

    Team Meeting - Monday, 3/30- 3:45 pm
We will have our team meeting on Monday at 3:45 pm on the pool deck. All swimmers are expected to attend the mandatory meeting!

    Vertical Raise Fundraiser Extended
We have had a tremendous response to the fundraiser, with 90% of the team securing at least one donation. In the hope of reaching $20,000 and 100% participation we are extending the fundraising deadline to Friday! If you or someone you know are interested in Corporate Sponsorship of $1000 or more, please contact Coach Peters. This will consist of the business’s logo featured on our Swimtopia home page for a full year.

Senior Night and Palo Alto Meet Results
It was wonderful to honor our seniors at senior night. The speeches were eloquent and friends and family showed tremendous support. Unfortunately, a strong Palo Alto team dominated all four divisions when it came to racing. JV Boys would have been within striking distance if they had been full strength. Parent Brian Roos has been taking amazing team photos! Please contact him if you would like higher resolution copies of these photos. Also a huge shout out to the parents who helped organize flowers for the seniors and all who contributed to the posters.

    Pasta Feeds- Wednesday, April 1
Thank you to the Choi (JV) and Malone (Varsity) families for hosting this week’s pasta feeds. We are still in need of a vegetarian pasta dish at the Varsity Pasta feed. Please check the Swimtopia Meets and Events page to sign up!

Swim Meet @ Homestead - Thursday, April 2
Swimmers will be excused to leave their 5th period class at 2:00 for a 2:15 pm departure to Homestead High School. There will be a bus returning to LGHS at the end of the meet. Remember that the bus will leave 20 minutes after the conclusion of the Varsity Boys 400 Free Relay.

All swimmers that can not participate in the meet on Tuesday, March 31 MUST FILL OUT THE MISSED PRACTICE FORM FOR Thursday, April 2, AND NOTIFY COACH BRUNO (VARSITY) AND COACH PETERS (JV) immediately.

    Orange-Black-Grey Fundraising Meet
There were a lot of, shall we say creative, swims. While some races went precisely to plan (mainly by the grey team), others featured strokes that could be clearly described as “freestyle” or not exactly hydrodynamic swimwear (flowered caps and sweatpants?). The creativity extended to the relays, with some unconventional, yet spirited, takeoffs. The effort, however, was universally top-notch, regardless of the unique execution. The overall goal was to have fun and raise money with some of our awesome alumni and parents. For those who missed out on the fun and failed to notify coaches or captains, it put Team Black at a huge disadvantage. And no matter the score, Team Grey always wins!

    Spring Break Practice-Swimming
The expectation has always been that if you are healthy and in town, you are at practice. If you have not made plans already it is strongly advised that you do not make any. Taking a week off of practice with only a short period of time before league trials and finals will be detrimental to your overall success. Spring break practice for both JV and Varsity will be from 10-12 pm Monday- Saturday (Saturday optional but advised for JV).

Banquet Date- Thursday, May 28th 6:00-9:00 pm
Mark your calendars for this event on Thursday, May 28th. We will have dinner on the front lawn then move to the theater for awards and a celebration of the season. This is an event not to be missed!.
