Week 12 Update- 4/12
Hello Swimming and Diving Families-
We hope your spring break was relaxing and you are ready to face the final grading period of the school year with energy and enthusiasm. This is the last week of dual meets and we will be finished with the regular season in less than two weeks! Please read the update carefully and ask a coach if you have questions.
Swim Team Meeting- Monday, April 13
With only two weeks left of the regular season it is essential that all swimmers attend the mandatory team meeting on Monday, April 13. The meeting will begin promptly at 4:00 pm to accommodate those with a 7th period.
Focus Practice
This will be the last week of focus practice sessions. Those who have taken advantage of the targeted help have seen more improvement than those who have not attended a session.
This week’s focus sessions include:
Tue 4/14/26 2:30 - 4:00 pm -- Distance Free: Total Distance
Thu 4/16/26 2:30 - 4:00 pm -- Starts, Turns, Finishes
* * * * * * Remember to sign no later than noon of the day of the practice. * * * * *
Please remove your name from the sign-up list by noon the day of the practice if you are not going to attend. We have had far too many people sign up and not attend the Focus Practice.
Diving Meet at LG- Thursday, April 16
Since there are no boards at Saratoga, diving will compete against Saratoga on Thursday at home! (Coach Karla also coaches the Saratoga divers.) Divers are excused from class at 1:40. Swimmers should swing by practice early and cheer on all our divers (including Saratoga) in their last “home” meet.
Swim Meet at Saratoga- Friday, April 17
Swimmers will be excused to leave their 5th period class at 2:00 for a 2:10 pm departure to Saratoga High School. There will be a bus returning to LGHS 20 minutes after the end of the last event.
All swimmers that can not participate in the meet on Friday, April 17 MUST FILL OUT THE MISSED PRACTICE FORM FOR Friday, April 17, AND NOTIFY COACH BRUNO (VARSITY) AND COACH PETERS (JV) immediately.
Pasta Feeds- Monday, April 20
Our last pasta feeds of the regular season will be held on Monday after practice! Thank you to the Stuermer and Roos families for hosting. We are still in need of food and a parent volunteer at the Varsity event. Addresses can be found on the Meets and Events page on Swimtopia.
Swimming League Trials and Finals- April 22nd-24th- Lynbrook High School
Boys trials will be Wednesday and Girls on Thursday. Each of the eight schools in the league sends up to four athletes per event per division for scoring as well as one exhibition swimmer. The top 16 athletes in each event/division (excluding exhibition) will swim in the finals on Friday, April 24th. More details about leagues will be discussed at the team meeting on Monday and in the week to come. The meet will be USA Swimming Sanctioned, so if you would like your times to count you will need to complete the google form below. The form only needs to be filled out once.
Diving League Finals April 22nd and 24th- Palo Alto High School
Diving league finals will be held at Palo Alto on Wednesday, April 22nd for Varsity and Friday, April 24 for JV. Coach Karla will have more details at practice.

Banquet Date- Thursday, May 28th 6:00-9:00 pm
Mark your calendars for this event on Thursday, May 28th. We will have dinner on the front lawn then move to the theater for awards and a celebration of the season. This is an event not to be missed! The event is free for athletes and $25for family members. All are encouraged to attend and athletes MUST RSVP.
Donation Clarifications
You may have received an email recently from our Athletic Director asking you for your participation donation. I wanted to clarify the donations that are requested and what they are used for.
- Participation Donation- Anyone who participates in a sport is asked to donate to that sport’s fund and is expected to come from parents. Funds are used for basic expenses like transportation, equipment replacement, league entry fees and basic coaching support staff (4 swimming and 1 diving coach).
- Vertical Raise/Alumni Meet Donation- This donation is separate from the basic participation donation and can come from extended family and friends of the athlete, as well as our alumni. This money goes toward extras such as the banquet, senior recognition events, additional coaches (2 for swimming) and large capital expenditures such as EZ up tents, lane lines, timing system upgrades, etc.
- Volunteer Buy-out- We cannot run the season alone and expect all families to either give of their time or buy-out their time.
- Pasta Feed/Snacks Buy-out- Swimmers are hungry during meets and at pasta feeds. We expect all families to either donate food and/or snacks or buy-out their obligation.
