Week 12 Update- 4/19
Hello Swimming and Diving Families-
This is the week most of you have been training for all season! Coaches are excited to see how your hard work and dedication will turn into results and PR's. There is a lot going on every day this week so attendance every day is essential. Please read the update carefully and ask a coach if you have questions.
MANDATORY Swim Team Meeting- Monday, April 20
We will hold an all team meeting for ALL swimmers (JV and Varsity) on Monday, April 20 at 3:45 pm on the pool deck. DO NOT BE LATE OR MISS THIS MEETING! All athletes are expected to attend so you are aware of what is happening in the MOST IMPORTANT WEEK OF THE SEASON.
Saratoga Meet Results
We had a great last dual meet of the season with wins across all divisions! Meet results are below.
Pasta Feeds- Monday, April 20
Our last pasta feeds of the regular season will be held on Monday after practice! Thank you to the Roos and Steurmer families for hosting. We are still in need of a vegetarian pasta dish at the Varsity pasta feed. Addresses can be found on the Meets and Events page on Swimtopia.
SCVAL Swimming Trials and Finals- Wednesday-Friday, April 22-24
- The entries for SCVALs are below. No changes will be made to these entries. If you are unable to participate in an assigned event for any reason, you MUST NOTIFY COACH PETERS AND COACH BRUNO by e-mail ASAP. You will need to be officially ‘scratched’ from the event, especially if you are in any relays. All relays will be finalized on Friday. Anyone who is listed as an alternate for a relay MAY be swimming in the A or B relay on Friday. Additionally, B relays for 200 Free and 200 Medley are not shown in the entries below and may be made up of any athlete entered in the meet.
Entries by Name
Entries by Event - On Wednesday, 4/22/26, all BOYS will have their swimming Trials at Lynbrook High School. Warm-ups start at 2:30. Meet starts at 4:00. All boys are excused from class at 1:50 PM for a 2:00 pm bus departure. Only individual events will be swum during Trials. Girls will have a short practice from 2:30-3:15 or can come to Lynbrook to warm-up and cheer on the boys. There will be a bus returning to LGHS at the conclusion of the meet. Parents are encouraged to attend. There is a gate fee, however volunteers do not have to pay (see below)!
- On Thursday 4/23/26, all GIRLS will have their swimming Trials at Lynbrook High School. Warm-ups start at 2:30. Meet starts at 4:00. All girls are excused from class at 1:50 PM for a 2:00 pm bus departure. Only individual events will be swum during Trials. Boys who will compete in relays and/or have qualified for a second swim with a top 18 place will have a short practice from 4:00-4:45 pm or can come to Lynbrook to warm up and cheer on the girls. There will be a bus returning to LGHS at the conclusion of the meet. Parents are encouraged to attend. There is a gate fee, however volunteers do not have to pay!
- On Friday 4/24/26, all swimmers with one of the top 16 fastest times swam in trials in their event are automatically entered into Finals and will swim their event(s) again. Swimmers with a 17th or 18th place are qualified as alternates for Finals. In addition, relays will compete on Friday. Warmups start at 12:30. Meet starts at 2:00. All swimmers are excused at 12:05 for a 12:14 departure. There will be a bus returning to LGHS at the conclusion of the meet. Parents are encouraged to attend. There is a gate fee, however volunteers do not have to pay!
- Anyone with a finish of 17th or 18th will also be required to show up to Finals. They should warm- up and have a suit, goggles, and cap ready when their event is going to swim. The starter will call heats to the blocks, and if someone scratches, or misses their event, then the 17th swimmer is called to fill the spot. If they don't show, then the 18th swimmer is called. There is no guarantee that someone placing 17th or 18th will get to swim, however every year there are a few heats where someone misses their event and the 17th or 18th swimmer gets to swim. Please be ready to swim if you are 17th or 18th place in an event. Alternates are only eligible to swim in the consolation heat (heat 1).
- SCVAL Swimming Championships will be recognized by USA Swimming. Swimmers wishing to have their times count at this meet will need to provide their USA Swimming Membership Number at the start of the meet. Make sure you complete the form below so your times will count.
USA Swimming Times Request Form
- The following rules apply to this meet and must be followed or participants will be disqualified. A disqualification due to not following one of these rules will disqualify the individual from the remainder of the meet.
- Feet first entry into the pool at all times during warmups unless in a designated ‘dive lane’ with a coach’s sendoff.
- Deck changing into or out of a swimsuit is not allowed. All suit changes must be done in the locker room.
- Competitors must wear approved suits and caps. No suit or cap can have any team designation on them other than LGHS Swimming. Suits of a single color without writing or logos can be used (i.e. Tech Suits), provided they are FINA approved.
- If you miss your event, you can not swim any other events in the meet. If you make finals in an event before one that is missed, you may compete in that event at finals, however no events from the one missed through the balance of the meet are allowed. This INCLUDES RELAYS!
- You must swim relays in the order assigned. Changing the order of the relay will disqualify the entire relay.
- If you plan to shave for this meet, you must shave at home prior to arriving at the meet. Shaving at the meet in any form (including touch up) is an instant disqualification.
- For anyone unsure of shaving, we highly recommend it. You have all trained hard this season and with the taper you are currently doing, a shave will help you swim personal best times at SCVALs. A good information video on shaving can be found here:
SCVAL Diving Finals
Varsity diving finals will take place on Wednesday, April 22 at Palo Alto High School with a 12:45 pm dismissal and 1:00 pm departure. JV diving finals will take place on Friday, April 24 at Palo Alto High School. Coach Karla will notify divers of the dismissal and departure times at practice.
